    2 Factor Auth - Please remember my device

    Posted:

    I've recently enabled 2 factor auth, and its KILLING me that I have to get a new code every time I login. And, to top it off, when it does make me enter my 2FA code I have to manually click the confirm button. Why can't I just press the enter key on my keyboard to submit my code??

    Please,

    1. Give us a checkbox to "Remember this device for 30 days"
    2. Let us press the enter button instead of clicking the confirm button

    Thank you

    Pearl Abyss, is group PvP just for Succession Wizards and Witches?

    Posted:

    Just wondering if we should just skip all the sieges, nodewars, RBFs and be content with 1v1. Please clear this up for us, thanks.

    Is the "Best-In-Class" Tournament an April's fool?

    Posted:

    Alright so PA is finally hosting some PvP content. I was hyped, really. As someone who has been playing this game solely for PvP for the past years it was a great thing to see a tournament of this sort, until I read through it and its rules completely. PA is once again completely disconnected from how their game is being played. So I need to vent a bit. Tl;dr at the bottom.

    Let me start with the first thing.

    Requirement: Level 62.

    At level 61 a class unlocks all of its skills except the last passive (lv63) which could as well be completely neglected. Various tests from Bigandshiny and others proved that from here on level difference for pvp did not matter anymore. The extra 100HP or what not won't save you.

    **Why am I forced to level a class to a level that doesn't open up any new content especially if my class just physically hurts me to grind on and I have to resort to a tagged alt just for PVE?**Just a small side rent because I was so hyped for the tourney that and didn't read it fully so I had to push in a 10h grind session to reach level 62 which I put off due to lack of content (yes I failed by not doing so during the 1000% exp event - how could I know that I suddenly need 62 one day after the event was over).

    // Edit - Suggested change:

    Allow people to participate from level 61 because beyond that majority of classes doesn't gain any benefits. Yes, reaching 61 is easy, but from that point level progression won't be the significant factor in your abilities.

    Requirement: Character playtime 100 days.

    Alright so this one is huge. I've been playing the game since its EU release and tried min-maxing my gameplay over those years by creating dedicated alts. My main lifeskiller alt has 479 days of playtime. I've mained 3 classes in those years, DK, Valk and Kuno. All of those have 40-50 days of playtime because when I play them I do it for PvP or grinding.

    Why am I forced to play afk simulator on my main character for 1/3 of a year just to participate in a pvp focused tournament? You may think it's to stop FOTM rerollers from participating? Then why are fresh rerolls with 700+ GSHashashins and Novas an exception to this? 100 days playtime isn't a feat you can easily pull off if you have a full-time job and on top of that utilize alts for afk/lifeskilling....

    // Edit - Suggested change:

    Gating behind a 2400h playtime wall in a game where afk-ing on your character benefits you is not a good measurement. At about 21 days (504 hours) a player should be deemed worthy of participating in such pvp tournaments. Some talents get to know theirs and the other's classes in and out even before that if they are motivated enough to do their research and practice, so weeding out by a time wall in general is not the right choice here. Rather weed out by pvp related topics (of which we don't have many except for RBF points or people killed in Arsha/Forced pvp/battle arena).

    The goal of this tournament is to determine who's the 'Best-In-Class' by having Adventurers of the same class compete against each other.

    So yeah cool and stuff but why is it not done on normalized gear because there is a breakpoint in the gearing curve where you can literally faceroll on your keyboard and kill your opponent because you outgear them so much. No years of experience help you against the gear gap.Any form of unfair advantages are taken out of every eSports match and only leave the players skill level to be measured. If you want to truly measure the best people at their class then host a proper trial only tournament after fixing the lack of Ignore Resist on the trial characters or at least normalize the gear where every class is viable at.

    // Edit - Suggested change:

    Using equalized gear at a point of about 270+AP 320DP should be considered.

    Alternatively the trial characters have to be fixed to have ignore resist attribute (most people barely play trial characters actively because it is discouraging to fail every CC and combo due to the resistance being a big hindrance for skill-based pvp.

    Which brings me to my next point.

    Adventurers who have won a match at any stage of the main tournament will have a chance to enter the Trial character-only tournament.

    Ah yes, I have to get through the "Play only one character for a year and AFK on it" to participate in the tournament then be lucky to not have a gear check match and actually show of my skill in a best of 1 to be allowed to HAVE A CHANCE at a trial tournament with better conditions by excluding the gear check? That has to be an April's fool PA..

    // Edit - Suggested change:

    The trial only competition shouldn't have the requirement of one round won in the "real" competition where you have unfair rules such as main gear. The tournament should have a separate preliminary round. Going by first-comes first serve rule for the sign-ups.

    And then there is the last point of the meme.

    No "cheesing" rules whatsoever in the 2021 Arena of Arsha Best-In-Class Championship Rules

    So I was participating in the Black Spirit League Tournaments back then when the pvp tournaments were hosted by the community. And we had this notorious memers who either ran full DP builds or kited for the entire match just to land a CC in the final 10 seconds, causing them to win due to the "Highest HP of the last second wins" rule? If nothing particular is specified people will abuse whatever they can find. This is just how the hardcore competitive community acts in any game unless fixed rules put them in an enjoyable scenario where both sides focus on their level of gameplay and their knowledge and not just cheesy mechanics that greyzone the rules.

    Oh yeah btw those who can efficiently cheese out a fight to #1 in their class or just gear check everyone in their mirror match because they ran in circles for 10.000 hours/were rng blessed for years during their journey can have a say in how their class can get better! "Best player of the class", yeah right. This tournament is like taking banans for scale when calculating how to build a bridge...

    // Edit - Suggested change:

    Define stricter rules for the actual gameplay. Casters/organizers should have the right to say that a person can get disqualified if they just run away non stop and don't fight at all until the last second just to make use of the rule "highest hp wins at the end of the timer". We are all there to watch a good fight, not 3 mins of running.

    So PA, or GMs, anyone who has some love towards the pvp community, can you at least re-evaluate how you do this sort of things in a fair manner and maybe bless us with the promised pvp content that we have been begging for years? Like matchmaking arenas and incentives for PvP outside of nodewars/siege?

    TL;DR

    A pvp tournament to find the best player of each class with no gear restriction, a afk playtime and level restriction that is meaningless as well as no proper rules against cheesing a win with timeplay or gear checks. On top of that the actually more balanced trial-only tournament is locked by the aforementioned rules and you only get a chance to participate in it.

    Thank you for listening to my ted talk.

    Am I not playing Dark Knight right?

    Posted:

    Hi, I just got my 3rd alt, a DK to awakening and just using Oasis Gear around 220AP/260DP. I main an Awakened Guardian and Succ Lahn and exclusively PvE.

    I am not sure whether I am playing her correctly but she seems to be taking a LONG time in PvE. My Guard and to a lesser extent my Lahn melted mobs in like half the time with the same oasis gear before. Even the awakening quest where you fight your shadow, I almost died several times, whereas with the other two it was a breeze.

    I am using her Awakening as the damage is a lot better than Succ. Am I meant to be switching a lot between pre- and post awakening with DK? My Awake Guard stays in perma-awakening (I have never touched my shield or battle axe since Level 56) and my Succ Lahn never goes to Awakening unless I'm PVP'd. If I'm meant to be constantly switching I really need to farm for more skill points. Are there any recommended guides? Thanks.
