Can we stop giving a ranged grab to every single new class

    Posted: 06 Aug 2021 09:28 AM PDT

With the news of Corsair awakening, it looks like we have yet another ranged grab being introduced into the game. From the GM notes:

" Distant enemies aren't safe either, as she can pierce them with her harpoon from afar, dragging them into her mist and neutralizing them. "

What is up with the devs obsession with making the game the least fun for everyone not playing the newer classes. Grab is already the strongest form of CC bypassing every single protection and it even has priority over I-frames within the server. This is counteracted by having to get up close and not being protected but ever since Lahn came out, they threw this out the window by giving Lahn the strongest grab in the game which coincidentally made her one of the top duelists in the game.

It didn't stop there, they just normalized ranged grab on new classes like hash, nova, sage and now corsair. At least awaken hash and nova is semi-balanced by being unprotected and leaving you vulnerable if you miss but not being able to play within X meters of a class due to being grabbed is very dumb, especially if you are a class that has little to no I-frames.

So please, for the love of God, stop giving ranged grabs to everyone and if you do, give it a massive cooldown for being much stronger than normal grabs.

Ranged classes are squishy because they have the distance advantage COPIUM

Here's another basic MMORPG functionality that we could use - lock hotbars. Especially mouse-to-move classes would appreciate that.

Can a moderately low spending PvE lover enjoy Black Desert for long?

    Posted: 06 Aug 2021 01:54 PM PDT

Basically title. PvP is fun, but is not the end all for me. I have let the fear of hearing about pay 2 win and peoples general negative feelings of Black Desert's content priorities scare me from giving the game more then 6 hours.

But on the surface it looks good. Can you enjoy this game without pvping or spending obscene money if you like pve and housing and stuff like that?

    [GM Note] Corsair Awakening

When does the game gets challenging?

    Posted: 06 Aug 2021 09:55 PM PDT

So I got already a few hours in this game but so far it seems too easy, the combat looks absolutely brutal but the enemies and even "mechanics" are kinda absent, when do this game gets harder or is this just a "beautiful and relaxing" game?

I like both but which right now is stronger for PvE longterm.

Mob name color and drop rate penalty

    Posted: 06 Aug 2021 03:06 PM PDT

Hey guys I'm a bit unsure as to how drop rate works on this game. I noticed every time I level'd up a new character how when you grind freaking...chimeras or any low level mob they actually drop you the regular amount of blackstones along the way whereas with a 60+ character they're grey and drop nothing.

My concern is, I'm sometimes grinding green mobs on my main, they nearly match my level so it shouldn't be all that bad, or is there a small drop rate penalty as well? So should I stick to red coloured monsters or not

A few very specific questions from a beginner

    Posted: 06 Aug 2021 02:30 PM PDT

Hey, just bought this game today and played it for a pretty tragic number of hours already. Been having fun so far, but I have a few questions as a beginner and I hope someone with some experience can give me a few pointers here:

    - Gold bars: I'm just selling them for silver (it seems to be the source of ~95% of my silver (that normal?), but the tooltip suggests I can invest them somewhere. Should I be doing that?

    - I created a season character so my gear is upgrading very linearly with quest rewards. When I get a better piece of equipment, I sell the old one. Should I be saving them for any reason, any kind of crafting-related equipment decomposition I can do?

    - Reward chests have dropped me a lot of Memory Fragments, which seem to have a current market price of 2,670,000 silver each. But their tooltip says all they do is repair equipment durability. I don't know enough about the game yet to know if that's super useful, but that sounds like a tempting sell price compared to what sounds like a mundane effect.

    - I bought the Master Bundle with the game because £25 (base game + master bundle) is about the price I would normally spend on a game anyway. Part of it is 1000 Pearls, which doesn't really neatly fit into any shop item that jumps out at me as useful or most important. How exactly do you recommend I spend that 1000?

That's all I can think of right now, appreciate any help.

Qutaran’s left lung at Thornwood ?

    Posted: 06 Aug 2021 01:17 PM PDT

I've been farming with my hash for the lung at thornwood, average 6850 trash with blue LS and I am at 35 leafs now after around 40h. The question is,after how many hours/leafs did you get your lung drop ? I know you can farm it faster at Ash forest but I'm not near close to having the gear for it( I'm 275/277/319)

    Quest help: The Friendly Astrologist

    Posted: 06 Aug 2021 07:10 PM PDT

I'm having a big issue with the quest in the title. The NPC is not taking the black stones required to finish the quest. I have both types (weapon and armor) in my inventory and plenty of space for what she is supposed to give me. This is the last item on the list, and I gave the rest with no problem.
