    NA Siege Guild Rankings 01/11/20

    Posted: 15 Jan 2020 04:53 PM PST

    Hello,

I hate rankings that tie guilds, and yet I have 3 different ties in my rankings. I will go into more detail beneath each guild, but all the ties have their reasoning. To make this week's rankings interesting with all the ties, I will go a bit deeper and try to break down what guild is good at what. To the idiots that tell me 4 months ago X guild beat X guild in a 1v1, I know. BDO is a volatile game and things can change each week. For the castle regions there was only 1 good fight, which was Calpheon, but there was a lot of interesting things that happened on Balenos and Serendia.

I replaced the (U) (D) from last week and instead put how many spots (+) or (-) each guild went in ranking.

Just a friendly reminder these rankings aren't the bible. 😊

    01/11/20 NA Siege

    1. Snake (-) & ChoNation (+1) & BlackRose (+2)

This week, the top 3 guilds are all tied at #1 and all three guilds were on different regions. And with it being a few weeks now since we have seen them fight each other doing it this way makes sense to me. Like I said in the opening paragraph, I'm still going to dive deeper into the guilds to find strengths and weaknesses, so hopefully you enjoy that, as well as talk about where the guilds were and what they did this week.

    Snake

Snake dropped on Valencia this week and ended up fighting Vexis (Valencia owner) in a 1v1. For Snake POV, both gates were taken in the first push. The throne room, however, isn't as easy to take. With all three flame towers at the entrance the Snake pushes up to the 2nd and 3rd floor didn't work. Vexis held the top floors well. Snake decided to stay underneath and didn't do a full push to the top after the flame towers went down and poked at the base from there. Snake captured Valencia.

    ChoNation

Dropped on Serendia this week to 1v3 vs. Barcode (Serendia owner), Aftershock, and Ingenium. Most of this fight will be talked about under Barcode and Aftershock, but Cho did well. There was little to no rust from having a few weeks off from a fight. Half of their guild held the bridge, while the other half defended against Aftershock and Ingenium. After cannons and elephants their fort stayed around 50%. The rest of the fight is talked about towards the end.

    BlackRose

BlackRose dropped Mediah this week in hopes to 1v1 Snake but they were never there. Ended up being a 1v1 vs. Filter (Mediah owner). BR took both gates in their first push as well. In that first push, BR took the rooftops around the second gate as well. After that, the Mediah fort isn't nearly as easy to hold as it is in Valencia, so BR quickly took it down and capped the region.

Even with all 3 guilds being tied this week there are still differences between the guilds. I'm not necessarily saying they are all equal, but since it's been a minute since we have seen the guilds go at it, its harder to for me to put one above another. Past fights are still relevant, but the rankings are a bit volatile right now with all the changes going on in the game.

    -----

I will be doing rankings in these categories: castle defense, castle offense, open field, strategy, overall siege composition.

    Castle Defense

    1. Snake
    2. BlackRose
    3. ChoNation

For castle defense I think Snake is strongest by quite a margin. They're practiced defending castles and their gear just adds to it. BlackRose comes in 2nd in this category. BR is strong in castle defense. They held Snake several months ago in Mediah and they practice castle defense as well. For Cho, it's hard to place them correctly in this category. The only fight I can remember where they had a real fight was the one in Mediah where Snake took them out quickly. Unfortunately, Cho doesn't get a lot of castle defense practice. BR and Cho 1v1 in castle would be cool, but doubtful to happen.

    Castle Offense

    1. BlackRose
    2. Snake
    3. ChoNation

BR comes out on top in this category, mostly because they've had a ton of practice trying to push Snake out in the last few months. Cho and Snake don't have many sieges pushing a castle 1v1. Cho pushed out BR in Calpheon, while Snake failed to push BR out in Mediah, but Snake pushed Cho out of Mediah. But remember Mediah is a much, much better castle to defend. Don't focus too much on Snake and Cho in this category because the references just aren't there.

    Open Field

    1. ChoNation
    2. BlackRose
    3. Snake

Cho wins this category and with recent fights in mind only, they win by quite a large margin. They wiped BR consistently in their most recent fight. For BR, the last open field fights BR and Snake had; BR won. If we think theoretically about the compositions and how they should work. Cho and Snake would clash heads, and, in most cases the aggressive guild would win. While BR would need to work a bit harder and rotate or out maneuver Cho and Snake. I think the open field fighting is the most interesting category. I really want to see all 3 guilds go at it.

    Strategy

    1. BlackRose
    2. Snake
    3. ChoNation

BR clearly spends the most time on strategy, and in most cases, it works out very well for them. They hold open field and castle practices. Snake and Cho have tricks up their sleeve though. Snake had a great setup in Calpheon and Cho is usually very organized with their pushes. Most organization for those two guilds happens in closed chats one can assume.

    Overall Siege Composition

    1. Snake
    2. ChoNation
    3. BlackRose

I put this category last because most of what I've talked about sums up this category. If I had to rank the guilds out of a tie it would be in this fashion but in the slightest of margins (for reasons I've stated above). There could be more/better categories to do, maybe those will be covered in future weeks. If you add up the mini rankings it comes out to BR with 9 points, Snake with 9, and Cho with 12. Which just goes to show how close it is! Cho's points seem high just because we don't see them in castle defense or castle offense in a 1v1.

I've said this a few times, but the top 3 guilds are much stronger than #4 and on. With Barcode falling off the difference between the top 3 and the 4th spot is big.

    4. Corrupt (-) & VRTX (+2)

For our second tie of the rankings, this week Corrupt and VRTX take the #4 spot. I do recognize Corrupt as this week's slight winner because they won the Calpheon fight this week between the two, but we will touch on that more below.

Getting to the fight, it was Vertex (Calpheon owner) vs Corrupt. Finally Corrupt gets the 1v1 that they have been looking for. For those who don't follow the siege scene close, Calpheon is a hard castle to defend. There are so many avenues for the attacking guild to take to get an advantage. Which means that it's almost impossible (for guilds of equal or close strength) to defend that castle. In short, it was a close fight and looked fun for both sides.

In a bit more depth VRTX held the first gate well for about 45min to an hour. Corrupt tried a bunch of different strategies on the first gate. They tried 'V' pushes to the 2nd gate, the left side, and the battlements. They used elephants and ogres. All the pushes for that first hour were dealt with well by VRTX. Corrupt did get damage on the first gate, roughly 35 minutes in, but it took a few pushes after that to finish it off. The second gate isn't defendable, so it went down soon after the first gate went down. In the meantime, Corrupt's flex team were up in the ladder room trying to cause a ruckus. Corrupt had a holding up in that ladder room for a bit, but VRTX sent enough back to take it back.

After the gates go down in Calpheon there isn't much for the defending guild to do to hold their base. But VRTX did do a good job of holding the ladder room and the roof for as long as they could. Corrupt's strategy after the gates went down was to continually push VRTX's base to take out all their structures and gain the advantage in the respawn time (which isn't really a strategy, its about the only thing to do). Corrupt did end up taking the ladder room, and after that it was not long until VRTX went down. Corrupt took Calpheon.

    ----

To break down the rankings a bit more I will discuss: siege composition, strategy, open field, and special teams.

    Siege Composition

    1. VRTX
    2. Corrupt

VRTX has a strong ball composition, while Corrupt has more of a skirmish and special teams' composition. In the current meta the stronger ball composition will usually have the leg up in my rankings but that doesn't mean that guild will always win. There is outplay potential, and if there is a guild that would get that honor, it would be Corrupt.

    Strategy

    1. Corrupt
    2. VRTX

For this category it came down to time. Corrupt has had more time as a guild than VRTX. Even if you add the 2nd version of Vertex, Corrupt would still have more practice. Corrupt also has a great CTG, which for some reason no other guild can do as well as them (ask BR).

    Open Field

    1. VRTX
    2. Corrupt

The open field fights were hard to decide who would be on top. I think there are reasonings for both to be on top in this category. If VRTX get's a good engage on Corrupt it would be a win, but if Corrupt is ready for said engage and flanks the ball Corrupt would do well. In short, it's easier for VRTX to pull their composition off than Corrupt. A 1v1 open field is a must see.

    Special Teams

    1. Corrupt
    2. VRTX

Corrupt wins by a big margin in this category. Their flex team has strong members, and their cannon team, anti-cannons, etc. are all great. Again, Corrupt has had a lot of practice the last few months which has only helped them. VRTX's win condition is their ball engages, they wouldn't ever count on their special teams to gain an advantage (which is the same mentality for all guilds that have a strong ball composition).

Overall the 1v1 open field fight between Corrupt and VRTX is a must see. As I said VRTX has a strong ball composition, but would Corrupt be able to work around it and out play them? I don't know but I want to find out. Also, this fight would hopefully put a clear stamp on who takes that #4 spot. Out of all the interesting things in the siege scene I think that #4 spot is one of the most interesting.

    6. Vexis (+1) & Basilicacorps (+1) & Barcode (-2)

Oh how far the mighty have fallen, and this probably isn't the end. More to come on that front, for now let's cover this past weekend.

    Vexis

Vexis (Valencia owner) fought Snake. Vexis lost both gates on the first push. While we all understand Snake is stronger, Valencia first great is fun to hold. Snake was expecting to get blendered for at least a few pushes. Vexis feels that they dropped the ball a bit on that first gate. Their Shai's didn't bubble in time to stop most of the Snake pushing through. Even without the Shai's I think Vexis should have been able to put up a fight at that first gate, but they were unable to hold it.

Vexis did put up a fight for the 2nd gate, when most guilds just go straight to the throne room to defend. Snake pushed right into the gold room and then wiped the Vexis back toward the 2nd gate.

Vexis did get a foothold up in the throne room. The Valencia throne room is the best fort defense out of all three castles. While the gates are slightly better to hold in Mediah, the fort hold in Mediah is bad. But in Valencia it's great for the defending guild. There are 3 floors and a tower to spread your entire guild around and rain damage on the fort. Vexis also had all 3 flame towers right in front by the stairs to the throne room. Those flame towers were MVP. Snake tried to push up the stairs while the flame towers were alive. Snake had small holds up in the tower but enough Vexis came to clear it out. Once the flame towers went down Snake decided to stay below the balconies and poke at the fort until it went down.

Overall, I think Vexis had a good hold in the throne room and I'm sure they wish they would have had the same performance on the first gate. No big movement in this week's rankings. Still looking for that 1v1 or 2v2 performance that doesn't include one of the top 3 guilds.

    Basilicacorps

There was no fight or reason for Basi to drop on a castle region this weekend. Instead they decided to drop Balenos and get a good brawl in. Most of this fight will be talked about in a different section but Basi 1v2'd FML (formerly Challenger) and Legatum. In short Basi held well until the cannon and elephant damage took its toll on the base. Legatum and Challenger are getting stronger and Basi still had a great showing. Basi survived for about 2 hours. Which, with a safezone near their base is nutty.

No movement yet for Basi. Even with their good showing in the 1v2 I would like to see them back on a castle region doing their thing.

    Barcode

Barcode was the owner of Serendia and teamed up with Aftershock and Ingenium to take on ChoNation. This fight is just a whole lot of questions, with most of the questions being towards Barcode. I have mentioned this before, but Barcode is not good at being an offensive guild. They made a few pushes across the bridge of Khazad-dûm…or that's what it felt like TBH. But besides that, they stayed on their side of the bridge and had a picnic or picked flowers. I think the criticism is warranted after bringing up the region stats during the siege. Barcode was around 400 deaths while Aftershock was around 1300. The point of the fight was to 1v3 Cho. Yes, your guild needs to facepalm into their base over and over. Barcode is supposed to be the carry in this fight, and from what we saw they weren't much of a help. Aftershock switched sides after seeing that Barcode was probably just looking to stalemate the region. Barcode did CTG onto Aftershock to try to knock them out (since they would get the region) but it didn't work. Barcode went down soon after.

Barcode is now the question mark in the rankings. They hold a top 6 spot because there is still gear, the leadership is still the same, but something isn't going according to plan. I can't tell you how they would perform in a 1v1 for a few reasons. First, because they haven't had a true 1v1 in a long time, and two, things seem off from an outside point of view. Their gear carried them in previous 1v1 scenarios, but now with the other guilds getting more gear and getting much better fights this isn't easy anymore.

    ----

Let's break down the 3rd group of ties this week in these categories: castle defense, open field, siege composition, strategy.

    Castle Defense

    1. Barcode
    2. Basilicacorps
    3. Vexis

This is where I would put Barcode above and where they still have some strength. They have had a lot of practice holding against BlackRose and their gear would shine best in this scenario. Basi and Vexis are both close. They both defended Calpheon against each other and both fights were even.

    Open Field

    1. Basilicacorps
    2. Vexis
    3. Barcode

The open field fights would be extremely close for Basi and Vexis. I think they are two guilds that are close in strength in these open field fights and would trade until the special teams got an advantage. Barcode struggles in open field fighting as they are not the aggressive type of guild.

    Siege Composition

    1. Vexis
    2. Basilicacorps
    3. Barcode

For siege composition Vexis edges out Basi. Vexis has a good number of mages and their flex is strong which is a good balance. Basi has a good ball as well, the thing with Basi is that their top end is stronger than Vexis but their bottom end is lower. Most of Vexis's bangers are in their flex team while Basi has more bangers in their ball. Barcode made that huge change to more mages but that didn't work out and a few rolled back or left. Overall their composition would still be strong, but they need to get that synergy back.

    Strategy

    1. Basilicacorps
    2. Vexis
    3. Barcode

Basi wins out big in this category. Basi has always been crafty in their sieges and make great decisions in the heat of the moment, Basi also has great special teams. Vexis doesn't necessarily have those flashy moments but they are usually stable in their strategy. Barcode doesn't have much of a strategy besides turtlecode. If there was a category called turtlecode, they would be #1.

    9. Filter (-)

Filter were the owners of Mediah, and BR dropped against them. There isn't a whole lot to talk about for Filter this week. Filter had the same mistake that Vexis did on the first gate. The call for the Shai was late and all of BR did a 'V' play to the back and then out geared them in the skirmishes. Once the gates are taken down and the enemy guild has roof control there isn't much you can do in Mediah.

From the viewpoint of a stream it looked like Filter put a lot of practice in on holding the castle. Their setup looked scary, and I think BR was thinking the same thing that Snake did. That they would probably get blendered for a bit. I think Filter is a bit bummed out about their performance in the castle, but I look for them to bounce back next week.

    10. FML (formerly Challenger) (-)

    11. Legatum (-)

Both FML and Legatum were on Balenos this week to 2v1 Basilicacorps. From what I heard from both guilds it seems like they worked well together once they got things figured out. In the first 15 minutes Basi did a great job clearing both guilds. After that the two guilds found their synergy they worked well together coordinating engages on Basi's base. They used elephants and cannons to deannex them. Basi still did a good job to slow down the burn. Basi survived for over two hours against both guilds.

After Basi went down FML and Legatum did decide to do a 1v1. FML did not plan on doing the 1v1 after Basi went down, but they went for it anyway. FML had roughly 71 while Legatum had roughly 87. Legatum won the first engage and then used the terrain advantage near FML's base. Since there was no original plan to 1v1 and the #'s were skewed into one side's favor I won't go too much into detail. Legatum did capture Balenos.

What's exciting is that both guilds are continuing to show up to siege and brawl. The fight I look forward to is an FML vs. Legatum with equal numbers. Both (a few) fights that they have had have been in Legatum favor but so have the numbers. An even fight is needed and would be fun for both sides.

    12. Aftershock (-)

Aftershock was placed on Serendia with Ingenium and Barcode to 3v1 ChoNation. Aftershock had a bit of a rough start vs. Cho but found their footing about 15 minutes into the fight. Once Aftershock and Ingenium had elephants and cannons they got Cho's base to around 50% and kept it there. There were too many engages to talk about around Cho's base. But both guilds were doing what they were supposed to be doing in a 3v1. Which is continually ram your head into their base. Unfortunately, Barcode was off gathering flowers near the bridge of Khazad-dûm. I don't think it needs to be said but both guilds are out geared but were still putting work onto Cho's base. Cho was de-annexed at points during the fight and around 50%.

After seeing that conquest score Aftershock saw that Barcode was not attributing enough to the fight and it was probably going to stalemate. So, Aftershock switched sides and the 3 guilds took down Barcode. After that Aftershock went on Ingenium but Cho quickly showed up wiped both guilds and killed Ingenium's base. There was no agreed upon fight after Barcode went down, Aftershock just wanted to get a push in on Ingenium before Cho got there. Cho then walked off the region and Aftershock captured Serendia.

Aftershock did as well as they could against Cho and showed some growth in these past weeks. Their guild numbers continue to grow and so does their guild cohesion and strategy. I think in a few weeks they could be a full guild and capable of fighting Legatum and Challenger.

I would also like to shout out Ingenium for showing up this weekend. Look's like they contributed as much as they could to try to take down Cho. I wonder if we will continue to see them on Serendia and Balenos for these fights?!

    Closing Thoughts

    Nah, it was long enough.

    Complete List

    1.Snake & ChoNation & BlackRose

    4.Corrupt & VRTX

    6.Vexis & Basilicacorps & Barcode

    Anyone remember this gem

    Posted: 15 Jan 2020 06:37 PM PST

Love this game but I am so bad at it. I am thinking of giving up the fighting scene and getting into money.

    Posted: 15 Jan 2020 06:03 PM PST

This is the best MMORPG I have ever played, and I have been playing an MMORPG of some kind since 2001. But I have always been terrible at arcade games in general - the kind where you have to memorize controls, moves, etc. And I am extremely bad at this game in particular. The further along I get, the harder it becomes. I did pick Dark Knight, which as I understand it, is a glass cannon. But mix that with a player who is terrible and this is not a good combination. Sadly, many of the other "easier" classes I didn't really like. I did also try Valkyrie since it seemed to be more defensive, but I was bored easily with it, much like I was bored with Witch - which I was told was a bit easier.

I officially had it with the fighting scene on a boss when I was about level 53. It was a main story boss and he calls adds and absolutely destroyed me. All the teleporting and potion sucking in the world couldn't save me.

But I do have a boat and a house and farm with a few plots up north. I have been thinking about just settling down and trying to have fun with the economy.

Is this something that people do or can be done? After the panicked carpal tunnel I have been experiencing, I think I want to retire from that but I do enjoy some other non-stressful parts of the game.

How do you activate the buff when you need to?

Careful! Character Expansion Slots for Pearls At 180 & 600.

    Posted: 15 Jan 2020 06:01 AM PST

Probably a mistake, but PA has the Character Expansion tickets in two places within the Pearl Shop, at different prices. Most likely due to the cheaper version having a limited quantity at that price (5 per family).

Hot Deals has the Expansion tickets for 180 each, limit of 5.

Function has the Expansion tickets for 600 each, no limit.

Just be careful where you look!
