    Plywood Hardener: Some statistics on skimping on Trace of the Earth.

    Hi all. Not sure if this will be useful to anyone, but I thought I'd slap it on here for anyone who would go around searching like I did. Trace of the Earth comes in really slowly so when I heard alchemy sometimes worked if you skimped on some materials at certain ranks or mastery of Alchemy, I decided to try it.

    I did some testing where I use the recipe with 1 less Trace of the Earth. That means:1x Pure Powder Reagent3x Bloody Tree Knot4x Fir Sap2x Trace of the Earth

    Batch #1 (60 tries) | Alchemy Artisan 2, Mastery 316
    Batch Amount : # of failures : # of plywood hardener made

    10 : 4 failures : 10 PH made
    10 : 5 failures : 8 PH made
    10 : 2 failures : 11 PH made
    10 : 4 failures : 12 PH made
    10 : 1 failure : 14 PH made
    10 : 1 failure : 16 PH made

    Total 60 tries, 17 failures (fail rate: 28.33%, pass rate: 71.67%), 71 plywood hardeners made.
    Judging from 43 passes and 71 returned, (71/43) = 1.65 PH per craft.

    Comparison with original recipe:
    1.65 * 60 = 99 Plywood Hardeners expected.
    60 more Trace of the Earth's used.

    With this 60, another 30 tries can be made with modified recipe:
    (71.67% * 30) * 1.65 ~= 35 plywood hardeners. 35 + 71 = 106.

    With same amount of Trace of the Earth, I gained 7 Plywood Hardeners more.

    The sample size is still small, but based on the results of this first batch of 60, it is consistent enough for me to continue experimentation.

    In conclusion, I believe this modified recipe can be considered if, like me, you think Trace of the Earth is Time, and you want to save on either.

    PLEASE NOTE:

    1) I can't guarantee minimal losses.

    2) I stress that you most likely won't get more hardeners out of the same amount of Traces between both recipes. You are more likely to lose hardeners for the same amount of traces.

    3) But if the statistics are true, the loss is minimal, or you break even, and you get the hardeners much faster due to needing less Traces. Basically, saving time taken to get the Traces overall.

    4) In the end, like most things in BDO, RNGesus and Lootcifer controls the outcome.

    Just for fun, I simulated the above stats for all 300 plywood hardeners you need for 30 hard pillars for my Improved Epheria Sailboat.

    300 / 1.65 ~= 181.8 (roughly 182 crafts of original recipe)
    Original Recipe: 182 * 3 Traces = 546 Traces of the Earth
    Modified Recipe:
    I need 182 passes. At 71.67% pass rate, I need ~= 253.94 (254 tries). 254 * 2 Traces = 508 Traces of the Earth.

    There you have it. A grand total of 38 Traces saved. That's puny. We'll see what the final statistics are when I'm done with close to another 194 tries.
