Theiah's Orb should be added to loyalty shop permanently

    Posted: 02 Aug 2021 11:06 AM PDT

Those few months they revamped the loyalty shop and added them was the best few months. With arena coming to the game and hopefully a flock of new players getting into the game. the difference between a p2w fairy with cheer V and Weight is huge. I hear the devs are listening and it's a good time for them to remove this p2w/money/rng sink and allow us an in-game way to earn them and make our perfect fairy without the stress of not knowing how much money you'll have to spend for a good fairy

I started BDO in 2017 - here's a list of things I'm grateful for which I think show the game has a positive future albeit the myriad of complaining / quitting getting some publicity lately

    Posted: 02 Aug 2021 01:54 AM PDT

I loved grinding when I started BDO - it's the reason I play the game. Some of the QOLs have been at some real $ cost, but I'll do my best to list out things that have made the game less P2W over time and improved the overall BDO grind (focus on combat grinding mainly)

    1. Adding more pet slots
    2. Giving away lots of free pets - even t4s
    3. Central Market Warehouse (!!!)
    4. Silver Weight Removal
    5. Giving away lots of free maids (if you have played over 3 years you should have over 20 maids, all for free)
    6. The Tent (it's P2W so meh but it saves so much time to allow us to grind more efficiently, ultimately saves lootscrolls imo)
    7. Adding lootscrolls to value packs / giving away so many free lootscrolls
    8. Fairies - even a t1 fairy is a huge QOL improvement - nobody forces you to get a t4. Nobody remembers spamming 1 for pots mid-grind but it was a thing - and I'm glad it's gone. Even mc3 on a t3 was massive (I had this for almost a year)
    9. Enhancing QOL - there's a lot - but cleansing, naderr's band free slot, and the upcoming timer reduction for 100fs+ are massive - the only way to move a stack 51-100 before was by P2W, and it was impossible to move stacks that were 101+ . I'll also add Valk's Cry here as they give out hundreds to players every year for free (enhancement help kits etc.)
    10. The upcoming head maid as-a-feature rather than P2W - it shows they're listening and actively not trying to monetize too heavily

Some shoutouts of features which have had a massively positive impact on BDO - not necessarily P2W reduction but amazing features that were brought into the game:

    1. The Tagging System - the CD/swap was removed - one of the most handy features for people who grind a lot on multiple characters - or for things like chaining maps to jump across the map quickly etc.
    2. The Oasis Event - particularly Saunil/Fogan Scroll Pieces - the massive influx of these scrolls has helped keep the price of memory fragments down - essentially disabling the Artisan Memory market from being inanely OP.
    3. Treasures - Inf Hp for example is one of the nicest QOLs for a grinder - just another item that helps you get max value out of lootscrolls or any grind. I've prob put over a thousand hours of mileage with my infinite hp pot running. Map was an amazing grind, especially on seasons. I still think the Compass is a bit of a joke but someday I might go for it when they buff the rates further. I want to go for the merchant ring once i gear up a bit further.

I just want to remind people that the unique features BDO offers come at a developer cost. Maintaining an MMO has its own costs but building on one means paying people's salaries and putting food on their family's tables. BDO is mostly free to play. You can go extremely, extremely far in this game without spending $1 - but how much have you supported the game you love so much? Don't spend if you don't want to - but IMO it's a dishonorable practice to knock others who support the game and its future. Cheers o/

On a positive note - BDO is still a great game

    Posted: 02 Aug 2021 04:22 AM PDT

With the rise of negative comments recently and few great content creators leaving (you will be missed) I thought a different perspective can be shown.

I'm now one year in and still not knowing what class would be my main, but I have it in every single MMO. I'm 600+ GS and the I'm at the point where upgrades cost around 20bil. I started with the first season so I also skipped the painful part of gearing before seasons started.

TLDR/Summary at the bottom as I see I went for it.

    MMO is becoming mature game

Let's have a look first at the veterans leaving the game. I've seen few videos and I've seen comments that gearing is too easy and people are now getting free TET neck and it's not as it was before. And I completely.

BDO is an old game now and we have two populations playing. One is veterans with a lot of gear acquired over years of plying the game and on the other side new players, to some extend like me, who started very recently. Now from the perspective of the studio it's a very tricky task of balancing a game to have both sides happy. We also need to look at the charts from the both balls, where 650+ category is in minority and people with lesser gear are the most of player base. PEN accessory quest gives some means of getting AP up, but it's a 3 months of dailies, and it's not BiS accessory by the current meta standards. Free PEN capotias are added, but again, it takes over a year to collect all the rewards retrospectively. As it is helping players I don't think it's that game breaking. It also allows people like me to get to Aakman/Hystria in matter of finishing season in 3 months more than a year before.

From the veteran side, I could agree, there is less of new content. Hadoom dungeon will be one of new additions for that. But it's also natural that after years the amount of playable content narrows in every game. I remember in Lineage times being in top 3 parties destroying nearly everybody on the server. Was it fun? Yes. For long? No. I did quit few month after because there was no more challenge and we all look for a new challenge. After you have everything it's hard to find new exciting things in a game where you did everything already. It's fine.

    Progression

IMO BDO has a good progression system related to gear. It's mostly a linear progression here the next upgrade takes similar time to get given you advance to more profitable area. It was hard to get 10 bil for TET ogre at the time but now it wouldn't be an issue given what I know now but now I'm in 20bil per upgrade bracket. The time needed to upgrade stayed mostly the same as my income capability increased.

I also think that enchancing system is a great addition, gives you a kick of adrenaline that you may get your upgrade faster. In the same time people complaining on it are the one who are misusing it the most. Doing PEN roulettes on your gear is like getting your rent and food money to a casino with a mindset you will become the richest person on the planet on the next day. Is it possible? Sure it is. Would you do it with your own money? I don't think so.

In the same time the system limits gear inflation. Having just 5% or less chance of obtaining item makes it harder to get. And as it may hurt when you're on lower gear there is a challenge to get it. If it was easy there would be no fun and reason to play the game. There would be no joy of getting BiS item if it was just 1bil. The same as it won't be an achievement to get PEN accessory from the quest. It's more a participation medal. Looking at other games you can have predictable way of getting gear as long as you do 10 dailies for a month. Then it becomes the same chore as grinding of lifeskilling, only difference you have no choice what to do. In BDO everything is about silver and it's up to you how you get it. Nobody forces you to do content you don't like or have no time for, or no skill (like heroic and mythic raiding in WoW in my example) to get the best items. It will be slower but after long time I've got my fallen god armor. Mostly from pickled veggies and farming.

    Quality of life changes

Better late than never, right? My favourite thing over last few weeks was Potion and MoanerTV saying it's their videos which made PA do the change.

After working in software for over a decade it's rare for me to see this kind of changes happening either in games or in any other system. Look at your old and rusty bank app or government systems. To enable this kind of changes you need exec level management realizing the long term goals and profits are as important as short term gratification. To make those changes we see over last few weeks I can bet my money there was a big overhaul of core code happening from about the beginning of the year. Things like the damage numbers not being linked to labels on skills. It's just a lazy code to deliver for deadline more than long lived product. And it's not devs making the change, the business as a whole had to change direction to put the work which is not bringing money, just fixing old issues, to the front before new content which makes people pay money. I think it's a great thing looking into the future of BDO.

Similar story like this would be with FFIV few year back from what I read, where they did stop development and fixed issues before new content drops. And we can have counterexample of WoW, where Blizzard grew lazy and delivered one bad expansion after another.

    Summary / TLDR

MMOs as games are ever changing beasts. Any MMO at release isn't the same game few years on. Some will like the change, some don't. Ever lasting content battle between newbies and veterans will last forever and as one will leave the new one will join the ranks. Progression is the easiest ever now in BDO and it's not that hard to catch up to reasonable gear to have a chance to experience new upcoming content and so called endgame. PA as developer is doing great thing and taking step back to add features and fix the old code of years of development before they add new features to the game. It may be a bumpy road at the time but I think they have heart in a good place.

[QoL improvement suggestion] Can't complete quest because "this is too heavy"

    Posted: 02 Aug 2021 06:16 PM PDT

The O'dyllita quest Task 2: [Crossroad] Indiscriminate Attack - Combat requires giving 3500 Moonlight Spirit Powder (Thornwood Forest trash loot) to NPC Kalicha in O'draxxia.

The NPC only accepts one stack of 3500 items. You can't give him, say, 500 at a time. 1 Moonlight Spirit Powder weighs 0.3 LT, so 3500 of them weigh 1050 LT.

My character can only carry ~660 LT. I was barely able to get all 3500 powders from O'draxxia storage into my inventory. At 165% weight, I crawled to the (conveniently close) quest NPC and talked to him in order to give away >50 million silver worth of trash loot.

    "This is too heavy."

I should have seen this coming. In Black Desert, due to a game quirk, when you're over-encumbered, you can't "exchange items" with NPCs. Most likely, that "too heavy" error comes from the game attempting and failing to place a temporary item in your inventory. (I suspect that combat EXP, knowledge entries and other things are represented as items that are immediately "consumed" on receipt.)

That being said, the player shouldn't be "exposed to" and inconvenienced by such game implementation details. It makes no sense to not be allowed to get stuff out of your inventory because it's too heavy.

So, unless I'm missing something, either I upgrade/buff my weight limit to at least 1050 LT (hint: pearl shop) or I'm unable to finish this quest. Even if there is another way (please tell), not being able to easily give some items to an NPC is bad player experience.

I've encountered "this is too heavy" before, when I was exchanging (not selling) Mediah trash loot for silver. Then, it was just an annoyance (since you had to exchange at most 1000 x 0.3 = 300 LT at a time) but now, it outright prevents me from completing a quest, so I thought this old issue deserved a new post.

Since Pearl Abyss has recently taken the time to make quality-of-life improvements to the game (facilitated moving stacks of items, added inventory search function, added 10 more skill cooldown slots, etc.), perhaps now they would also be willing to fix these "too heavy" issues, which have been around for a very long time.

I really dont get it , in every Post there are some very sad indeviduals which clearly feel in need to ranting on every Post out there , something is positive and the average douche is already here telling how Bad the game is , why TF you comment on a subreddit from a game you dont even play anymore , why are you still here if you hate the game how you make it seem like ...

Are people that much hurt by bdo ? Kinda sad you let a game do something to you that you feel really hurt...

Does leveling matter at all once you gain all of your skills for pvp anymore? (and pve)

    Posted: 02 Aug 2021 08:39 PM PDT

Back in the day I seem to recall leveling changes how difficult it was for you to be hit by lower level players, and other mild benefits, but is this still the case, ans is it really worth noting if so?

Wondering how steep the exp required gets, its already needing 1.65mil to go from lv36 to lv37.

Im trying to figure out if the amount of training exp gained from each level increases beyond 30, or if its just the same amount of training exp gained as if you were hitting lv30 each time.

Anyone have any clues on this?

Bdo players who left or are about to leave, why and what will make you come back/enjoy the game more?

    Posted: 02 Aug 2021 05:35 AM PDT

Lets make it as detailed as possible in the comments. I would love if the comments are casual and toxicity proof. Sure the devs did a lot of bad stuff but there are a lot of good things as well.

Lets get as much feedback rolling as possible and if this thread doesnt help, at least my curiousity will be saturated.

    Thank you in advance!
