    [Feature proposal] Dynamic world RBF's

    [Feature proposal] Dynamic world RBF's

    Dear community,

RBF has not seen upgrades in long time. I understand this is due to Pearl Abyss wanting us to "fight in open world". And I can agree on that. My opinion is that we should then use all the advantages of the beautiful world of Black Desert. As you all know, our current RBF map was derived from this location in serendia:

    Original RBF location

Let me proceed with the concept and present you:

    Dynamic world RBF's

    What is this?

Dynamic world RBF's are red battlefield matches that occur on random (predefined locations by devs) parts of world of Black Desert. The format (two spawn points, score system) and the queue system remain the same. The main difference is that we take advantage of the natural landscape of Black Desert world map to create battlefields where people can play red battlefield matches.

Can you give me few examples of the map locations?

Yes. Here are some I can quickly think of could be fitted as a red battlefield location. I've marked the spawn points for Red and Black team with "X".

Map 1: Mediah Castle RBF map

Map 2: Tshira Ruins RBF map

Map 3: Sausan Garrison RBF map

Map 4: Pirate Islands RBF map

    Map 5: Classic RBF map

Map 6: Fogan / Swampy RBF map

How do we limit people from breaking away from the zone?

Very simple, add boundaries to it. Players are unable to escape from it. We have seen this implemented in Shadow arena.

    Battlefield boundary sample

How do we make rbf matches take place, while there are other adventurers in the zone?

We already got that implemented where you become invisible to outside world and should not be seen by outside adventurers / interact with them.

How do we balance the maps?

This is one of the challenges of the concept that need to be taken care of. Placement of two spawn points is crucial as it should not give any team advantage. Devs should carefully plan the rbf locations and where the spawns are.

I do believe this concept is easily implemented and would make the PVP playerbase get a bit of map diversity. More locations to fight on would serve both as sightseeing experience but also as a open world pvp practice - making use of Dynamic world RBF maps as a learning tool to better understand the world and even practice for Node wars and Sieges.

Obviously a lot of thought towards designing and placing such maps needs to be put in, but I believe it can work out nicely in the end.

    Thanks,

    MustangJunior,

    Revert UI Button

    Posted: 10 Oct 2019 06:00 AM PDT

So when they added the new hp bar however long ago that was, they kept the option to revert it back to the old style pretty much. Why cant we have that with the new UI? Imo its poorly designed graphically and functionally, i'd rather just reset it to the old style than play the game with the current ui

I can't run this game anymore... here are my specs...

    Posted: 10 Oct 2019 10:06 PM PDT

    Hello,

I have an okay computer. It holds an i7 quadcore processor with 3.5GHZ. The graphics card is an Intel HD Graphics 4000. It has 16 GB ram and it consistently runs at around 26-29 C when idle, no more than 41 when running BDO. For some reason, I can't run black desert remastered. I used to play black desert with max graphics/environment settings at 30-60 FPS. I quit the game for like 3 years and now that I come back to remastered I only get 12 FPS with the lowest settings. What gives? Is it my graphics card? If so, is there a graphics card under $200 that can get my computer running this game over 30 FPS?

    Thanks!

Update: I found a link to my video card I bought on Newegg

It is called "GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 670 DirectX 11 GV-N670OC-2GD 2GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card"

    Marni event duration extended?

    Posted: 10 Oct 2019 01:08 PM PDT

Hello guys, I'm in doubt since I filled 20 marnis II in nagas this weekend but I forgot to return them to Toshi. Today I read that the event was extended to October 23 but I'm not 100% sure.

    Source: https://www.blackdesertonline.com/news/view/3107

    " [Updated 10/10]

    - There will be some special Marni's Stones available during this event for defeating monsters at Hystria Ruins and Aakman Temple. All of these stones will be deleted during the October 16 maintenance.

    - Please note again that number of points accumulated (for your reward) count only towads Marni's Stones turned into Wacky Toshi during the event period of September 25 (after maintenance) to October 23 (before maintenance).

    - Additional EXP gained from exchanging the special Marni's Stones available for limited time during the period of October 8 (after maintenace) to October 16 (before maintenance) will not be withdrawn."

    Can anyone confirm this please?

    Laptop GPU Overheating

    Posted: 10 Oct 2019 07:39 PM PDT

Is it normal for my MSI GS65 GPU: Nvidia 1070 Max-Q to reach around 80-90 degree Celsius while playing BDO Remastered?

I've disabled the turbo mode, so the CPU runs around 80, but the GPU is just constantly climbing from 80 degrees.
Even at Low/Optimal Settings, it hovers around low 80s after awhile.
If it is normal, then is it also sustainable to play in Remastered settings?

In regards to _MOUNT_ experience gains, is Manos Riding Crop bugged?

    Posted: 10 Oct 2019 06:00 PM PDT

EDIT: SOLVED. You DO get proper increased mount experience gains from the Manos Riding Crop; it just works differently then all the guides / posts I'd read about how mount exp works. Instead of increasing the amount of experience per tick, it increases how OFTEN you get ticks, my right around 50%. I haven't done exacting tests, but simple tests showed it right at 50% within the margin of error of my tests. Might be nice for someone to do some exacting testing at some point, i.e. a streamer record it and count the number of frames to get an exact timing. Anyways, thanks to shiny_houndoom for giving me the idea to test that theory!

Thanks to again to everyone, original post below for reference:

[I have no idea why, but my post was automatically tagged as "Xbox"; So everyone is clear, I play on PC, not console. I'm not sure how to change that tag.)

Preface: We're talking about the amount of exp your MOUNT gets here, NOT your character's "Training" lifeskill experience level.

So I've done some basic testing, based on the math that seems to be accepted by the community (I've read many posts / guides on this). Here's a good one for example: https://grumpygreen.cricket/bdo-training-guide-eminent/ Anyways, what I'm talking about specifically, is that, best as I can tell, according to the consensus, the amount of mount exp your mount gets is based on the distance it's traveled per tick, with ticks being 16 seconds for riding a single horse, and 21 for a merchant Wagon (the only two important options). Now, according to the tooltip, Riding Crops have no effect when using wagons, so for now we won't worry about those.

OK, so assuming for a moment that that is the correct way the game figures out mount XP, let's move on to the other factor: distance traveled. While I haven't personally done tests, I've seen many, many people comment that the riding crop DOES work as intended, and I've seen YouTube videos to back this up. So it does sound like if you have a Manos one (as opposed to a Blue or green one, but why would you use those?), it says it increases auto-run speed by 50%, and community tests seem to confirm that it does reduce travel time by right around 50%. Great! But what about when it comes to Mount XP?

Well, I did some testing, and with my current gear (+20% mount XP, plus like 4% or so from mastery) and the event buff - although the buffs you have shouldn't have any or much effect on the test, as long as you're testing with the same buffs with and without the Riding Crop. So, if mount XP is EXCLUSIVELY based on distance traveled, then with a 50% buff to how far you travel in a given period of time, that should be right around, or at least no significant amount less then, a 50% buff. If anything significantly more, because it should be multiplicative with your +% exp buffs.

In reality, I'm only seeing around a 5.5% experience increase per tick WITH the 50% Manos Riding Crop. I'm comparing it on a per-tick basis, going over the same straight section of road, and averaging several ticks to get the number on each side of before and after. Before being with NO riding crop equipped. Also, my Riding crop is a +0, so the amount of Mastery it's giving me is literally making no difference during these tests (because the effects only increase in breakpoints of 50 mastery). Also of note, it shouldn't matter, but I was using Tier 5 horses. And of course, letting it auto-path, not touching the keyboard (meaning no skills used). Actual numbers: (Test done on a Lv 12 Tier 5 horse, 6% Horseshoe, 1% pearl shop horse costume, +20% Silver Embroidered Trainer's Clothes, and 50% buff from current event going on) Around 975 per tick WITH NO Riding crop equipped Around 1030 per tick WITH +0 Manos Riding Crop equipped

Anyways, thoughts? Has anyone else done any testing on this, and if so, did you have similar results, or very different ones?

Side thought, does this mean that distance traveled is NOT the only factor in mount XP? I.e. is there some base amount of XP (i.e. 50%), and only the remainder is based on distance traveled? Or is the 50% increase not working for some people? Or does the horse have to have (or NOT have) certain skills? etc.

If it really is supposed to be a 50% increase (to mount exp), or possibly a lot more if it works multiplicative with your other buffs, that would be a game changer, because leveling horses individually would very possibly be faster than leveling 4 at a time with a wagon (currently the fastest way to do it, at least before riding crops were introduced). While it would make wagons almost useless, it would make it a lot more fun to do any training related lifeskilling, i.e. making money off of training/breeding/selling/imperial trading/etc. horses. Anyways, it's not a huge deal to me either way if they want to replace leveling horses via wagon or individual better, but it #feelsbadman when you spend a bit of time and in game money to craft a new item thinking you're getting around a 50% buff and you end up getting around a order of magnitude less. Ouch. Anyways, I'd love to hear thoughts / tests / math from the community on this! I'd be overjoyed to find out I'm somehow doing something wrong and you can get the 50% buff to mount XP somehow (from the riding crop, not the one from the event), but it seems unlikely there's another way to do things that I COULD be doing it wrong. Still, thoughts?

Yes, I realize the MAIN intent was the in-game convince of AFK traveling going much faster, and on that front it's wonderful and a very welcome change; I'm definitely not complaining about that. This is specifically about how it pertains to mount exp, and if there's a bug in the game, or we just don't correctly understand how mount exp is calculated.

    BDO restarts pc.

    Posted: 10 Oct 2019 04:51 PM PDT

Ive been having this issue from a week or so. Sometimes i can play for hours before restart, but sometimes it restarts as soon as i load my character. Ive check temperatures, stress test of both cpu and gpu, memtest for ram, uninstalled bdo and installed on ssd... Everything was fine and ssd didnt fix the problem. So i thaught it had to be the psu, so i borrow a friend psu (working perfect for him, also in bdo) and the same event persist. Everything works perfect on other high demanding games such as escape from tarkov, ark survival evolved, etc. Its just in bdo. My specs: i5 4950 Nvidia geforce 1060 6gb Psu corsair plus bronze 750W 8gb ram ddr3
