[Suggestion] Since family names exist, we should be able to use already taken character names

    Posted: 09 Feb 2020 08:11 PM PST

We all know the pain of having to make names for your character only to be met with "name is already in use" for the 10nth time in a row

Most people I've met in chat already refers to each other by their family names so I really don't see a problem with redoing the name system to work this way

    What do you guys think?

    Sincere Sympathies

    Posted: 09 Feb 2020 02:26 PM PST

I'm about to talk mad shit.

There is currently a charity event going on for BDO to raise money for both the Australian bushfires and Elazığ earthquake.

As the event states, their goal donation is 5,000,000 Charity Tokens which equal100,000,000 Korean Won that they say approximates to $84,000 or €76,000.

Charity Tokens are bought from Lara in Heidel for 1,000,000 Silver each.

Let's break down some math here:

    • The goal is 5,000,000 tokens valued at 1,000,000 silver each
      • Therefore, the total amount of silver needed to be spent is 5,000,000,000,000 (five trillion)
        • Ergo, 5,000,000,000,000 silver is equal to $84,000 USD
    • 5,000,000,000,000 silver / $84,000 = 59,523,809.52380952 silver per $1
      • Meaning that PA values silver at a rate of (approximately) 59.5 million silver = $1

Okay, not so bad, silver has to have a real money value after all and that's PA's appraisal.

Except, we already know how much PA values real money in silver because Pearl Items can be sold on the marketplace for silver.

Costume sets are some of the most expensive items in the game and can also give a large amount of silver.

Let's do that math real quick:

    • A [Warrior] Doomsday Premium Set may be sold on the market for about 335,000,000 silver
      • The set costs 3,400 pearls, which is about $34 USD
      • 335,000,000 silver / $34 = 9,852,941.176470588 silver per $1
        • Meaning that PA values silver at a rate of (approximately) 9.9 million silver = $1

    Which means:

    • PA values silver / $USD at 16.5529% it's "established" value for this event
      • 9,852,941.176470588 / 59,523,809.52380952 = 0.1655294117249789
        • 0.1655294117249789 * 100 = (approximately) 16.5529%

How about an example in action?

Say someone does purchase that aforementioned Premium Set, sells it on the marketplace for it's maximum value, and buys tokens.

We've already established they've spent $34 USD to get that item, and converted it into 335,000,000 silver. They buy 335 tokens.

    • 335,000,000 silver / 59,523,809.52380952 silver will get us how much that silver is worth in USD
      • 5.6277163630953, or $5.63 USD
        • $5.63 / $34 = 0.165521069502803
        • 0.165521069502803 * 100 = (approximately) 16.5521%

GEE, WHERE HAVE I SEEN THAT NUMBER BEFORE

    get to the point already

PA is playing by different rules.

Yes, they're the gods in this realm, but we're talking about shit happening outside of it. Putting a dollar value on silver and saying if you spend this amount we'll donate this amount and they're not playing by what they said was fair and it's fucking bullshit.

I have nothing against charity or fundraising, but the way this has come about is completely stupid.

They could have an event where 50% of all Pearl Item purchases raised money for the victims, but they didn't. Because it's not about the victims, it's about the bottom line: the shit that drive profits, and that's all that matters.

Full disclosure, I've bought over 5,000 tokens during this event through silver I've gain just from lifeskilling over the years (I genuinely have nothing reasonable left to spend it on), and I don't fret or fuss over anyone else doing the same from silver they've gained strictly through playing the game.

However, if you or someone you know is planning on or already has bought Pearl Items to sell on the marketplace to buy tokens, then they fall into one of two categories:

    1. Selfish bastard, or
    2. Absolute dipshit

    Pick one.

On the off-chance you actually do want to help either of the disasters:

    • Australia:
    • Turkey
      • Information seems to be scarce on English speaking websites, I've searched different subreddits, tried googling everything under the sun, but I've not found anything.
      • I'll modify this last bullet point if anyone in the comments can find reputable donation page. All results I've found seem sketchy at best (may be language barrier).

tl;dr: Don't spend real money on this "event", give it to actual relief efforts.

Musa succession differences with Ninja succession?

    Posted: 09 Feb 2020 07:56 PM PST

Been playing musa succ for awhile now, recently looked into ninja and it seems really fun. What makes ninja succ different from musa? I know they're basically OP in pvp rn which is cool, just wondering how it plays, what's different and what's similair, going to give it a shot once I'm, home from work tonight.
